In communities across Africa, access to clean water and sanitation can be limited, making handwashing even more crucial. The Cleaner’s Network Africa (CNA) recognizes the importance of hand hygiene and is committed to promoting its practice through education and outreach programs.
Proper handwashing involves using soap and water to thoroughly clean all surfaces of your hands, including between your fingers and under your nails, for at least 20 seconds. When soap and water are not available, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can be an effective alternative. CNA’s recent “TCN Against Cholera” campaign highlighted the importance of hand hygiene in preventing the spread of this potentially deadly disease. By providing handwashing demonstrations and distributing sanitizers, CNA is empowering communities to take control of their health.
Beyond preventing the spread of illness, hand hygiene also contributes to overall well-being. Clean hands reduce the risk of skin infections, eye infections, and other health problems.
